Outside forces

MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media first year Hathy Guo is in the VFL tonight working on a project for her Media Studio class. She wanted to explore her ideas about the way in which the environment affects the individual. She reflected on how our friends, family, classmates, and setting can shape who we are.

She developed this piece which shows four different reflections of herself centered around an empty stool representing the ways in which outside factors often do more to build our image than our own actions. To realize this work, she laser cut a series of panels and used the UV printer to transfer her images onto it. The stool she made by hand with a ruler and xacto knife.
