Frenchy

Carlos is a 1st year MFA Fine Arts student using the VFL's woodshop to build a hanging cleat for his painting panel. Carlos is building a french cleat, which is useful for dispersing the weight of heavy objects that need to be hung on a wall. A french cleat is made by making a 45 degree angle cut on a length of wood.

The two resulting pieces can then lock into each other, with one being attached to the piece being hung and the other being attached to the wall. Carlos is working with heavier materials in his paintings, and needs the extra support that a french cleat provides.
