Behind the Scenes: Affirming Artifacts Exhibition
The Affirming Artifacts Exhibition by the first years (3rd Generation) of MFA Products of Design will be extended for another week! Be sure to come check it out in the gallery space between the VFL and PoD at 136 West 21st St. 7th Floor Galllery. For a little more info on the exhibit, visit here. With 1.5 weeks of planning and many late night sessions, gallery committee worked hard to make sure every detail of the gallery was attended to.
At the beginning of the show, we had to design a way to fit 20 students projects in a tiny space. Because the work was so heavily invested in process, we needed to find a way to display the creative journeys students took through the course. After selecting everyone's best works, we designed the layout of the space and got to work executing. Posters were designed, printed, mounted onto foam core, and arranged on the wall.
Plinths and extra "wall" space were designed, constructed out of MDF, sanded and painted.
A curator statement was written, typeset and then applied onto the windows.
In the end, we were proud of our show. Because the entire course was packed with an eclectic amount of work, we knew the look and feel of the show would have to be a riot.
Gallery Committee Members include Marianna Mezhiboyskaya, Jon Lung, Isioma Iyamah, Panisa Khunprasert, Lou Van't Riet, and Eden Lew with help and guidance from the VFL and PoD staff.
