This Friday: Genevieve Hoffman's Financial Landscapes and Iceburg Orders

Genevieve Hoffman will present new work completed during her summer residency with SVA's Visible Futures Lab. As part of her ongoing Financial Landscapes series, Genevieve explores data visualization and implements digital fabrication to create physical three-dimensional renderings of topological terrains generated from stock market data. Genevieve will discuss her research into algorithmic and high frequency trading, and the role that technology plays in shaping the landscape of financial systems. Her work draws metaphorical and literal connections between finance and the environment, showing how the financial system profits from climate change and the extraction of natural resources.
